Sita An Illustrated Retelling of the Ramayana by Devdutt Pattanaik

Sita An Illustrated Retelling of the Ramayana - Devdutt Pattanaik

Sita says "He is God, he can abandon no one and I am Goddess, I cannot be abandoned by anyone"

What a great epic to start my year with!

Having watched, heard and read Ramayana N number of times, yet the beauty of this epic is that this tale never fails to impress me.
Every time I hear, read or see I always find something new to like and ponder about it.
I knew what to expect from this book so I am not disappointed one bit. It's obvious though the title refers to Sita yet Sita’s story cannot be completed without showing how great Ram is.
For me one of the greatest avatar of Vishnu in Ram. Author Devdutt not only explains why Sita was abandoned by Ram but also gives reasons for doing so. He explains it’s not just Sita who suffered after the separation but even Ram did.
The numerous information on different kinds and types of Ramayana listed after every chapter was quite informative. Thanks to the author who has done such great research and given us an informative book like this with beautiful illustrations.
